NON-LOAD BEARING INTERNAL WALLS: A GUIDE TO EUROPEAN TECHNICAL APPROVAL

In April 2001, EOTA (European Organization for Technical Approval) published a European technical approval guide, applicable to internal walls used as non-load bearing walls (GATE 003).

To determine the suitability for use of an internal wall, each essential requirement included in the Certification Practice Statement is specifically listed.

ENTRY INTO FORCE, USE

The requirement for a CE label will come into force progressively in all European countries in the coming years. The ETA forms a single, complete definition of the performances required of an internal non-load bearing partition.

The performances in the technical specification will henceforth be expressed according to the definitions in the ETA. This reference will be created progressively, as the European classification standards come into force. As indicated above, a transitional period during which national reports will still be acceptable - will also have to be taken into account.

Clestra has obtained ETA certification for most of its products or is in the process of obtaining certification.
